Detoxing your body the proper way

It seems that the term ‘detox’ is the new buzzword for the health and wellness industry, it’s a term that gets used an awful lot. Nowadays, whenever you google a health complaint or issue, the chances are high that doing a detox will come up as the solution.

Detoxes have been marketed by many companies as magical cures for everything, from skin complaints to cancer.

There are no two ways about it, detoxes are a huge deal in the health and wellness industry, but they aren’t a magical cure to every health complaint under the sun.

Detoxing, does it work?

The fact is that there’s no solid evidence to say that detoxes can cure health problems or prevent them, but what we do know is that they have a positive impact on the body. Detoxes may not necessarily cure or prevent certain illnesses or health problems, but they can give your health a boost, as long as you pick the right detox to do, that is.

You see, some detoxes – aka the ones that make you starve yourself – aren’t likely to give your health a boost, so it’s important to be selective about the type of detox that you do. Be smart about the detox that you pick.

A simple example of the best 30 day detox plan would be drinking lots of tea in the morning and eating organic vegetables.   To help make detoxing easier, below are some suggestions on how to safely detox your body.

Add a twist to your water

A simple way to detox your body is to drink plenty of water – you should aim to be drinking at least eight pints of water a day. To ensure that you are drinking enough water, invest in a water bottle that measures how much you have drunk so that you know that you are hydrated enough.

For detoxing, infused water is a must. Long before infused water became a big thing, spas were serving lemon water and cucumber water to their visitors due to the health benefits that come with them. Lemon water aids hydration and cleanses the digestive system, helping to prevent bloating and water weight. While cucumber water is known for its ability to help flush toxins out of the body, give the metabolism a boost, and keep skin blemish-free.

Quit sugar

One of the best ways to detox your body and give your health a boost is to quit sugar – all processed sugar, that is. Natural sugars, like the ones found in fruit, are perfectly fine, it’s just processed sugar and sweeteners that you want to quit. The more sugar you eat, the harder your pancreas has to work, which can lead to your body becoming worn out, leading to exhaustion. Feeling tired all the time? The chances are that you are eating too much processed sugar.

In the long-term, eating too much sugar can cause weight gain, can lead to diabetes and can increase your chances of developing cancer. Sugar can also impact the health of your skin, leading to breakouts and blemishes. If you want to detox your body and give your health a boost, quitting processed sugar and sweetener is a must. Stick to natural sugars or go without.

Drink plenty of tea

A lot of people don’t know that as well as being a fantastic form of hydration; tea is also packed full of antioxidants, especially herbal teas, which is why it’s great to drink when you are detoxing. Tea is also filling, which means that if you drink plenty of tea, you will be less likely to binge eat – an unhealthy habit that can have a negative impact on your health.

As well as regular teas and green teas, there are also detox teas that you can drink that have been designed specifically to help cleanse the body of toxins – these are available online as well as in health food shops and can be incredibly effective if used properly.

Go organic

Detoxing is all about clearing your body of toxins and any other nasties, which is why it’s impossible to detox your body if you don’t go organic. Foods that aren’t organic are either sprayed with pesticides or are packed with antibiotics and other medications that then end up in our systems.

So if you are serious about detoxing, it’s vital that you go organic, because otherwise, you will be taking in all sorts of chemicals every time that you eat, undoing all the goodness that detoxing has done.

So there you have it, a few suggestions for ways that you can effectively detox your body and give your health a boost. Take note of the advice above and you can cleanse your body of all the nasty toxins, improving your health. Happy detoxing!
