Raffinose cannot be digested in the smaller intestine and are only digested in the large intestine. Once the sugar is in the large intestine, bacteria helps in breaking them down. These bacteria, however, causes the production of bad gases.
Dairy foods such as yogurt and milk are gassy foods and can cause excessive gas, especially on those people who suffer from lactose intolerance. Lactose intolerant people lack lactase, an enzyme that digests lactose, and suffer diarrhea, gas and stomach cramping every time they consume dairy products.

Chewing gums do not actually cause gas. The act of chewing the gum is the reason why you feel gassy and bloated after. While chewing you swallow air and this accumulates in your stomach.
