If you are looking to live healthier and are not sure where to start, here are a few tips to get you started.

Work out at home

You do not have to join the gym or go for regular runs to start your fitness journey. Start with smaller workouts at home. Just 15 minutes a day can help massively improve your overall fitness levels. If you start to get more into it then you can even get yourself some dumbbells or a professional weight bench online to kit out your own private gym. Exercising is much easier when you can do it from home.

Drink lots of water

Drinking water has a whole host of benefits such as increasing energy levels and improving your digestion. Try drinking a glass of water when you wake up, before your morning coffee to immediately rehydrate your body after sleeping. There are apps you can use to track how much you are drinking with notifications to remind you to drink. You should be drinking no less than two litres of water a day.

Start your day right

As well as drinking water as soon as you wake up, you should start your morning with a healthy breakfast. There is a reason they call it the most important meal of the day. A good breakfast can help you face the day and provide long last energy to keep you on track throughout your morning.

Take the stairs or walk where possible

If something is walking distance away then get your feet moving, do not rely on driving everywhere. You should also try to take the stairs instead of the elevator whenever you can, especially if it is only a floor or two. If you really want to commit, then you can purchase a bike and start cycling to work!

Get plenty of sleep

Get plenty of sleep – sleep is just as important as diet and exercise, make sure you are getting about eight hours of sleep a night to keep your body and mind in tip-top shape. Being well-rested also means you will be more energised during the day and more productive overall.

Eat often

Snacking is not always bad, if you snack wisely and eat plenty of fruit and vegetables then snacking can be part of a healthy diet. Do not skip meals and listen to your body when it says it is hungry. Eating often helps keep your metabolism working and ensure a steady release of energy throughout the day.

Make small adjustments

Making slight substitutions can make all the difference in your diet. Swap butter for olive oil or choose Greek yoghurt over sour cream. Little changes like this will add up in the long run and help encourage an overall healthier lifestyle. You should also swap those unhealthy snacks for a nice piece of fruit instead!
