What is raw food?

The fact that raw food is healthy is not an invention of modern medicine. Our ancestors already knew that. In fact, fresh food was the only food they knew.

Raw food diet consists of raw foods only and is treated as an ancient way of living. Alternatively, consuming raw food will also make you lose weight. Let’s look at how you can benefit from eating raw food.

Fresh or raw food diet

What is raw food? Raw food is food that is in biological terms closest to humans.

It is a food with high percentage of vitamins and minerals, enzymes, oxygen, anti-oxidants, and chlorophyll. It also contains the necessary carbohydrates, amino acids and fatty acids and a lot of water!

So how about raw food diet?

The first rule is that all foods are consumed raw. All raw food contains certain digestive enzymes, which, if the food is heated over 47 degrees of Celsium, are destroyed.

The raw food diet menu is very interesting. On the menu there are young peas, chickpeas, dried fruit, fresh fruit and vegetables, freshly squeezed fruit and vegetable juices, cereals, coconut milk, unroasted nuts, seaweed, seeds and other products you can buy in the stores and have not been processed (cooked or fried for example).

Raw food is unprocessed food such as vegetables, fruit, sea weed or herbs.

Some raw food eaters even eat small quantities of raw meat (like tartare), so that they provide the body with a certain percentage of animal protein.

People that eat raw food say that eating raw food can be very beneficial when it comes to maintaining or even losing weight. They also believe that raw foods increase the body’s resistance and that is an important factor in the prevention of chronic diseases.

One of the great aspects of raw food is – well – that it is raw! That means you don’t have to process it so you have little to no work when preparing a meal.

Of course that does not mean that you should eat apples all day. Raw food can be chopped for example. The only allowed processing of raw food is drying.

There is one draw backthough. Be careful as not all food can be consumed raw. Some raw foods can be harmful to your health, some can even be poisonous. You should also be careful when eating raw eggs, raw meat and raw milk, which are biologically speaking more rich foods, but they can also be breeding grounds for bacteria.
